Today, March 30, 2015, is National Pencil Day, a day in which the invention of the pencil is celebrated. The pencil was patent #19783, by Hymen Lipman, on this day in 1858. Hymen Lipman was born in Jamaica, to English parents. Many other national holidays are celebrated today, and April Fools Day is coming up!
