Our students returned to school on August 23rd. The first 3 days of school were spent touring the environment and building relationships with our new students. Another exciting event that happened over the course of the first few days was our 8th graders learned about applying for a managerial position. To apply for their position they had to make a resume and cover letter including why they thought they were right for that specific job. This week they will be interviewed. The managerial positions will be announced on the 1st of September.
Over the course of the summer, our animals stayed healthy and happy. At the barn we have 2 healthy sheep, 29 chickens, and 1 rooster. This past week we released our grown up chicks to roam around in the pasture. When we returned to school we were surprised to find that we now have a full grown rooster! In the Aquaponics Lab, we recently discovered that our tilapia had babies. These babies will be used in our future aquaponics systems. The last new update about the animals is that sadly, our bee hives got a disease. Thanks to Brian Fisher we will be receiving 2 donated hives in the Spring. The first week of school has been exciting and full of surprises!
